Creating Guide Workinstructions using Process Steps in Plex

Process steps are instructions that guide production operators through the required steps to complete a part operation in the Plex ERP system.

These instructions can include both images and inline text to aid understanding of complex workflows. You can optionally attach a document to a process step as well.

Process steps can verify if an operator has completed tasks and show the expected time for each step, in addition to providing step-by-step instructions. This can help you to track if an operation is proceeding on schedule. You can view process steps in the Control Panel.

In order to define process steps, you must first create a process group. A process group can include as many steps as you want, and must contain at least one step.

Key Capabilities:

  • Process Groups/Guided Work Instructions – a new data structure under the Part-Operation that allows Process Engineers, Quality, Technicians, to define how to set up production and the process/recipe/activities to produce the product.
  • Instruct with embedded rich-text / images - and the hassle of managing Word documents/PDFs, no longer applies
  • Instruct with linked DCS (documents) - leverage your existing work instructions at the precise point in the process required
  • Instruct with event-based Check Sheets – detect a problem before they proceed to the next activity.
  • Record activity – know they completed it - when/who/how long it took
  • Alert - Quality alerts can now be front facing, with the ability to capture when/who saw it
  • Monitor - identify production setup & manufacturing steps exceeding planned duration, real-time; avoid lost production capacity!
  • Evaluate - Activity History provides insights in where you are winning/losing as it relates to your standard costs/variances
